The best time to rejuvenate an asphalt shingle roof is when the shingles have started to look weathered but are still structurally sound. That typically starts to happen around 8-15 years, depending on shingle type and climate. 

Another indicator is finding an unusual amount of granules inside your gutters. When shingles begin to dry and fade, these small granules begin to fall off faster and easier, making the roof aging process speed up

The earlier a rejuvenation spray is applied, the better the protection you will have. Once a roof passes a certain point, a new roof will be recommended.
